How the Extension Works

Our extension operates entirely locally in your browser:

• ✅ Stores your custom keyboard shortcuts locally in your browser only
• ✅ Opens YouGlish.com URLs in popup windows with your selected text
• ✅ All processing happens locally - no data is sent to our servers

Third-Party Integration

When you use the pronunciation feature, the extension opens YouGlish.com in a popup window. YouGlish's own privacy policy applies when using their service. We do not send any additional data to YouGlish beyond the text you selected for pronunciation lookup.

Local Storage

The extension stores your preferences (such as custom keyboard shortcuts) locally in your browser's storage. This data:

• Remains on your device only
• Is not transmitted to any servers
• Can be deleted by uninstalling the extension
• Is not accessible to other websites or extensions

Permissions Explanation

The extension requests minimal permissions only for its core functionality:

• activeTab: To read selected text for pronunciation lookup
• contextMenus: To add right-click menu option
• scripting: To detect text selection on web pages
• storage: To save your custom shortcuts locally
• windows: To open YouGlish in popup windows

Data Security

Since we don't collect any data, there is no risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to your personal information through our extension.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change our data practices, we will update this privacy policy and notify users through the extension's update notes. However, our commitment to not collecting personal data will remain unchanged.

Our extension is safe for users of all ages as it does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
